As part of the core solution offering, SAP provides a solution termed – ArchiveLink, a service integrated in the SAP Web Application Server, for linking archived/scanned documents and images to transaction and objects within the SAP system! Images are therefore available within SAP - with only ONE CLICK!
Linking documents according to content guarantees long term easy access to the documents. From the screen of the application document, the stored document can be displayed that is associated with it.
A common scenario that can be used to explain this functionality is the management of invoices within an organisation - invoice payments and the location of a paper invoice for payment within an organisation always cause headaches.
The SAP imaging solution centres around scanning invoices and linking the image to the relevant SAP business applications. Once the invoice image is linked, SAP workflow is used to drive all approval and processing functions. The solution is substantially more cost efficient than other alternatives, and provides a fully scaleable and robust solution. This eliminates paperwork and the tedious and costly manual processing of paper invoices, lost documents and keying in data to SAP.
Documents managed via this method can be searched via attributes. This replaces time consuming processes such as making copies of originals, searching for procedure-related information, etc.
